(Find some great apps in today's Featured Free and Discounted Post, too!)
Cyberchase has been a popular TV show on the beloved PBS Kids since I was young (and I'm not telling you how long that's been). I clearly remember getting off the school bus in the afternoon just in time to tune in.
Today's Good Free App of the Day, Cyberchase Shape Quest, is brand new from developer PBS Kids, completely FREE, and offers different levels of shape knowledge and fun. Go ahead, get to downloading!
If you'd like to download Cyberchase Shape Quest( FREE, iPad 2 and higher only, wi-fi required) use the link below to support Smart Apps for Kids:
No ads, in-app purchases, or external links here my friends.
What's free: All the contents of the app!
Three different activities await your kiddo inside this shape-crazy app. Wi-fi is needed for Patch the Path, which requires a printed game board from the PBS Kids website and uses augmented reality to encourage shape learning. I couldn't think of a more fitting activity for an app featuring cyber creatures.
The other two mini-games are leveled activities that incorporate concepts like the number of sides, right angles and using angles to send things flying through the air. Which, if you ask me, is a whole lot of fun.
From PBS KIDS and Cyberchase comes Shape Quest, a captivating app combining games, puzzles and 3D augmented reality! Shape Quest challenges kids ages 6-9 to use geometry and spatial reasoning to hone their problem solving skills.
-NOTICE: Only works with tablet devices that feature rear-facing cameras.
-3 different games focused on building geometry, spatial reasoning and problem solving skills
-80 fun-filled educational puzzles
-5 fantastic Botopolis environments each with its own animal friends
-Augmented reality game interface brings the Patch The Path game into the physical world, fully engaging the player's senses and spatial thinking skills
PATCH THE PATH
Help your animal friends return to their homes in this augmented reality (âARâ) game, which uses a tabletâs camera to combine the real world with 3D digital content. Travel through 30 levels in 5 different environments and apply spatial memory, visualization and modeling skills, while investigating, predicting, putting together and taking apart two- and three-dimensional shapes. But this isnât a game to play just sitting on your couch! By using the camera on your tablet, plus the âARâ technology, you can
play while moving your whole body around the game board.
FEED THE CRITTERS
The critters are hungry. Feed them by flicking food â but watch out for walls and obstacles. Play with 5 different animals in their Botopolis habitats through a total of 25 levels, while you practice spatial reasoning.
HIDE AND SEEK
The animals have hidden behind different geometric shapes. Can you find them all? Through 25 different puzzles, practice your geometry vocabulary while learning about hexagons, right angles, number of sides, and much more
