How much will my website cost?
The cost of your website depends upon many factors: the size of your site, if you need custom logo and branding work done, whether or not you need website copy written, if you need e-commerce capabilities to sell goods online. I’m happy to send you a fair and honest quote once I know the scope of your project. You can download the website planner to get started.
How long will it take to build my site?
This varies a lot, depending on the size of the site you need. A simple one-page information site can be done in a day. A 40 page eCommerce site may take a month or longer. I’ll give you a very detailed estimate of time, however, when I consult with you about your project.
Can I update my website myself?
Absolutely. I feel WordPress is the best tool to build a site with and I can build you a custom designed WordPress site giving you complete control of all your content.
What is “hosting”?
Think of a hosting service as a big radio station that basically broadcasts your website to the masses. You need hosting. You can either obtain it on your own or go through me, but you do need it.
After my site is built, how will it be updated and maintained?
It’s your choice: If you would like to update your website yourself, you will want to look into a “Content Management System” Package, which includes a platform for you to update your site. As we mentioned earlier, I use WordPress which will allow you to easily update your website.
If you don’t want to bother dealing with the maintenance of your site, I offer two maintenance plans – retainer and pay as you go. A “retainer” is a monthly fee for unlimted updates. An “pay as you go” plans is where you order an update, I perform it and then bill you quarterly for time served.
I don’t have any images or a logo. How will you build my site?
If you have images you need/want to use on your site, great. If not, no big deal. I can use stock photography, if appropriate. There is a fee for stock photography and the fee varies depending on which stock photography site you use.
How do I get my website to show up on Google?
All websites I work on are created with search engines in mind and the website design is compliant with search engine guidelines. It is a good idea for your website to be re-evaluated periodically, as over a period of time the search engines do alter their rules and algorithms, and you will want to be certain that your website is kept up to date and complies with those new rules.
It should be noted that there is no way to ensure you rank #1 on Google. I flood your site with Search Engine Optimization, but ultimately, it’s outside marketing, social media, consistency and website strength that drives traffic.
Google recently changed the way they rank sites and having a mobile friendly site is a must for good ranking now. All the sites I build are mobile friendly.
What about social media?
You can try to fight Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, but you might as well admit, their value is priceless. I can help you through the clutter and confusion and even set you up with a personal, customized Facebook and Twitter page that will help set you apart from the rest.
